For MS Access based doQuments DB
- Click on the 'New DB...' option on the File menu.
- The New doQuments DB wizard will be displayed.
- Choose MS Access as your doQuments DB type and then click on the 'Next' button.
- You will then be prompted to enter the name for the new doQuments DB and choose the folder where the doQuments DB should be stored.
- Please note that you must choose to store the new doQuments DB in a shared location which is accessible from all the those machines from which you want users to open and work with this DB.
- Click on the 'Next' button.
- You will be asked to specify the location for the two folders required by doQuments DB. doQuments will suggest the default paths for the two folders. You can change it to your desired location.
- Then click on the 'Use network path' option. (For a doQuments DB to work in a multi-user environment, you must specify the paths for both thefolders as UNC paths
[i.e. \\ServerName\ShareName\Folder] pointing to a shared location. In other words, both the folders must be accessible from all the those machines from which you want users to open and work with this DB. When you click on the 'Use network path' option doQuments will try to convert the paths you have entered into UNC paths if required). - Click the 'Finish' button. doQuments will create and open the new doQuments DB.
For MS SQL based doQuments DB
- Click on the 'New DB.' option on the File menu.
- The New doQuments DB wizard will be displayed.
- Choose MySQL as your doQuments DB type and then click on the 'Next' button.
- You will then be prompted to enter the details required to connect to MySQL.
- Enter a name for the new doQuments DB. Then select the machine where the MySQL is installed.
- You will be asked to specify the location for the two folders required by doQuments DB. doQuments will suggest the default paths for the two folders. You can change it to your desired position.
- Enter the folder paths and then click on the 'Use network path' option. (For a doQuments DB to work in a multi-user environment, you must specify the paths for both the folders as UNC paths [i.e. \\ServerName\ShareName\Folder] pointing to a shared location. In other words, both the folders must be accessible from all the those machines from which you want users to open and work with this DB. You can now simultaneously open and work with this DB from other machines on the network.
