doQuments Setup Instructions
Follow the setup instructions given below for error-free installation of doQuments on your computer
Installing doQuments
- On Windows NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista you must be logged in with admin privilege when installing doQuments.
- To start the doQuments installation, double click on the doqsetup.exe file.
- Please note that on Windows NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista machines the user who will be logged on to Windows when doQuments is running must have Write and Delete permissions on the doQuments Installation Folder. This is normally the ' C:\Program Files\doQuments ' folder
- doQuments must be installed on each machine from which you want users to add and access documents.
- This is all you have to do if you have purchased or need to evaluate the Professional Editions of doQuments. However to evaluate or use features of doQuments Enterprise Edition, you must install and run the doQuments Security Manager.
The instructions below only apply if you want to evaluate or use doQuments Enterprise Edition.
Installing doQuments Security Manager
Note: If you are upgrading from versions earlier than 3.2, then please read the special instructions from the link ( http://www.itaz.com/doquments/dqupgrade32.htm ).
If you are installing doQuments Enterprise Edition for the first time, then proceed with the instructions given below.
- To download doQuments Security Manager setup, visit the link ( http://www.itaz.com/doquments/dqsecmgr_download.htm )
- To start the doQuments installation, double click on the dqsecsetup.exe file. You must only install doQuments Security Manager on a single machine on the network.
- The machine and folder in which you install doQuments Security Manager must be accessible from all those machines on the network on which doQuments is/will be installed.
- Run doQuments Security Manager after installation. You will be prompted to login. Login with user name and password as 'superadmin' and then close the Security Manager.
- If you are using the evaluation version of doQuments, follow the instructions in the Enable Security Wizard.
- In the registered version of doQuments click on the Set Security Manager... option in the Security sub-menu of the Tools menu and then specify the path in which you installed doQuments Security Manager.
Installing
doQuments Web Client
Note: The settings below will work only if the doQuments DBs and the doQuments Security Manager are installed on the same machine where the doQuments Web Client is installed. In case the doQuments DBs and/or doQuments Security Manager is installed on some other machine in the network, contact us at support@itaz.com for additional information.
- To download doQuments Web Client setup, visit the link ( http://www.itaz.com/doquments/dqweb_download.htm#webed_dwnld )
- Run the doQuments Web Client setup (dqwebsetup.exe).
- After the installation is complete, you will need to make a minor change to the configuration file (config.ini). The config.ini is located in the folder in which doQuments Web Client is installed. It is normally the 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\doQuments' folder. Open the config.ini in Notepad or similar editor.
- In the config.ini file you will find SettingsFileName. You will need to enter the path of the settings.dqs file as the value for SettingsFileName. The settings.dqs file is located in the folder in which doQuments is installed. It is normally 'C:\Program Files\doQuments' folder. For Example: SettingsFileName='c:\Program Files\doQuments\settings.dqs'
- Make sure the IUSR_MACHINENAME user has the Windows READ and WRITE permissions for the following folders.
- Folder containing the documents and doQuments DBs (.dqd files). (This is normally the 'C:\doQuments databases\' folder).
- Folder containing doQuments.dqs file (This is normally the 'C:\Program Files\doQuments Security Manager' folder).
- Folder containing settings.dqs file (This is normally the 'C:\Program Files\doQuments' folder).
Open the web browser and type: http://YourMachineName/doQuments
