Step 4 - Set folder permissions

The IUSR_DOQUMENTS user must be provided permissions to certain folders. These folders include...

1) doQuments Web Client Folder

This is the folder in which doQuments Web Client is installed. This is usually the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\doquments folder. Provide the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user with Read permissions on this folder. Click here for help on how to set Windows folder permissions.

2) doQuments Web Client Uploads Folder

This is a sub-folder of the folder in which doQuments Web Client is installed. This is usually the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\doquments\uploads folder. Provide the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user with Modify permissions on this folder. Click here for help on how to set Windows folder permissions.

3) doQuments Email Folder

This is a sub-folder of the folder in which doQuments Web Client is installed. This is usually the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\doquments\email folder. Provide the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user with Modify permissions on this folder. Click here for help on how to set Windows folder permissions.

4) doQuments Settings Folder

This is a sub-folder of the folder in which doQuments Web Client is installed and contains the doQuments Settings DB (a file called settings.dqs). This is usually the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\doquments\settings folder. Provide the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user with Modify permissions on this folder. Click here for help on how to set Windows folder permissions.

Note: If you have modified the config.ini file to point the Web client to another copy of the doQuments Settings DB, then you must provide the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user with Modify permissions on the folder in which that copy of the doQuments Settings DB is located.

If you are part of a Windows Workgroup and the doQuments Settings DB is located on some other machine on the network...

You must create a user called IUSR_DOQUMENTS on the other machine
The password for this user must be the same as the one for the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user created on the machine on which doQuments Web Client is installed.
You must then provide this user Modify permissions on the folder in which the doQuments Settings DB is located.

5) doQuments Security DB

By default the doQuments Security DB is MS Access based (a file called doQuments.dqs) and is located in the C:\Program Files\doQuments Security DB Folder. For a MS Access based doQuments Security DB you must provide the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user with Modify permissions on the folder in which the doQuments Security DB is located.

If you are part of a Windows Workgroup and the doQuments Security DB is located on some other machine on the network...

You must create a user called IUSR_DOQUMENTS on the other machine
The password for this user must be the same as the one for the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user created on the machine on which doQuments Web Client is installed.
You must then provide this user Modify permissions on the folder in which the doQuments Security DB is located.

If you use MS SQL Server based doQuments Security DB and SQL Server is configured for Windows Authentication, then you must ensure that the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user has SQL Server permissions to access the doQuments Security DB.

6) doQuments DBs

By default doQuments DBs are located in the C\doQuments databases folder.  You must provide the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user with Modify permissions on all the folders in which the doQuments DBs are located and also on the folder in which the folders linked to those doQuments DB (i.e. the Storage Folders and the System folder) are located.

If you are part of a Windows Workgroup and some or all doQuments DBs are located on some other machine on the network...

You must create a user called IUSR_DOQUMENTS on the other machine
The password for this user must be the same as the one for the IUSR_DOQUMENTS user created on the machine on which doQuments Web Client is installed.
You must then provide this user Modify permissions on the folders in which the doQuments DBs are located and also on the folder in which the folders linked to those doQuments DB (i.e. the Storage Folders and the System folder) are located.
